The Resident and Associate Society (RAS-ACS)
The Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS) is comprised of surgical residents, surgeons who have completed residency who are in subspeciality training, and surgeons who have completed residency and are in practice, but have not yet completed requirements for Fellowship.
Membership in RAS is automatic when you become a Resident member or Associate Fellow of the ACS.
The RAS provides Associate Fellows and Residents with an avenue for participation in Chapter and ACS affairs, fosters development and use of leadership skills in organized surgery, and provides opportunities for opinions and concerns as young surgeons to be heard by leadership. In addition, the Chapter holds a research paper competition each year at the Annual meeting and residents compete for cash awards.
